Shipham Valves participated at the Oil Africa 2006 exhibition, held from March 22 to 24 in Cape Town, South Africa.  This was the second such event designed to promote the Western Cape to become a service hub for the booming West African offshore oil and gas industry.

The Western Cape government has launched an initiative aimed at maximising the growing opportunities.  The Cape Oil and Gas Supply Initiative (COGSI) is designed to help South Africa tap into the lucrative offshore markets offered on the West Coast of Africa from Angola to Nigeria.

These waters are the fastest growing oil and gas exploration and production area in the world.  In 2004 the US Senate committee decided that they wished to source 25% of their oil from Africa by 2015.  This has created a multi-billion dollar annual spend that is expected to create up to 10,000 new jobs over the next 15 years.

The event offered Shipham Valves the opportunity to meet with prospective customers and to identify a number of potential agents for this fast developing region.  It is hoped that announcements confirming their appointments will be made shortly.
