Shipham Valve wins
Queen's Award ~ Thursday 21st April 2005
One of Britains longest established valve manufacturing businesses
has been presented with the Queens Award for Enterprise in the International
category after raising the level of exports by 275% over three years.
Shipham Valves manufacture a wide range of valves, gates, globes,
ball check and hydrants from ½" to 42" in materials
from bronze through to titanium and zirconium, producing a total
of 34,000 specialty valves in the past year. International success
has been being achieved with valve applications as diverse as those
carrying seawater used in cooling and fire break applications, and
those carrying aggressive acids in chemical plants. In the last
three years, the company has been involved in almost all of the
major oil and gas projects around the world and manufactures the
most diverse range of valves, in the most diverse range of materials
of any independent valve manufacturer in Europe.
Years of product development in terms
of materials, design and reliability, has won us international recognition.
said managing director John Wall. Our reputation for delivering
large project requirements on time to the required quality is now,
we believe, second to none. This award recognises the contribution
of the whole workforce and their determined focus on time delivery
and excellent quality.
Shiphams employ seventy staff and export a huge 75% of their total
annual sales and has operated continuously in Yorkshire for over
200 years.
The company is a part of manufacturing group Flow Group, with sales
approaching £20m and an international presence in sales and
