Royal Visit to Shipham Valves
At the end of November export achievers Shipham Valves were honoured with a visit by His Royal Highness the Duke of Kent.
Shipham caught the Duke’s eye last year when they won the prestigious Queens Award for Enterprise in the International Trade Category for exceptional sustained growth in overseas sales.

During his visit, Managing Director John Wall gave a presentation to the Duke on the nature of Shipham’s business and the factors behind its success. Then the Duke, who showed considerable interest in Shipham’s engineering skills, toured the offices and shopfloor, meeting many employees. Then in front of the whole workforce, the Duke unveiled a plaque commemorating his visit and presented a number of long service awards.
Shipham Valves is one of the longest established and most highly respected valve manufacturers in the world. It is a key supplier to the Ministry of Defence with original equipment supplied to every Royal Navy build since the 1930’s and has had an involvement in almost every one of the world’s major oil and gas projects.
Today, the 75 strong workforce carries hundreds of years experience in valve manufacture, and in some cases more than one generation of the same family work at Shipham, which still operates from its original site in Kingston upon Hull.

The long service awards were presented to the following;
40 years service;
John Prissick, Harry Coleman, Richard Charlton, John Brine, Ian Redpath
25 years;
Steven Longden, John Girtchen
